Virtual Classes

Introducing Our Studio Series Virtual Painting Classes with Aisling — a collection of immersive online painting sessions designed to support and elevate your practice. While the finished paintings may appear complex, the classes are structured to make them accessible, especially for beginner students, with clear guidance at every stage.

Suitable for both developing and advanced painters, the series focuses on strong technique, confident colour mixing, and step-by-step demonstration. Using a high-definition SLR setup, each class provides detailed, studio-quality instruction you can follow from your own home or studio.

All sessions are recorded, so if you can’t attend live or would like to revisit a demonstration, you’ll have access to the playback. Recordings are available to participants for ongoing reference. If you miss the first session, you’re welcome to join the second after completing Part 1 via the recording — just email if you need guidance getting set up.

Please note: Most classes are primarily taught in an adult learning environment.

Sunday's are geared for all ages.

Happy painting!

Leonardo da Vinci

Mona Lisa, 1503

We’re returning to one of the most iconic portraits in art history, the Mona Lisa. This session invites students to revisit the painting with fresh eyes, building on their earlier experience while pushing further into observation, subtle tonal work, and atmospheric portrait painting. Rather than focusing on replication alone, we’ll explore expression, softness of form, and the mysterious presence that makes this work so enduring.

Note to Students:
Since this is a return study, you’re encouraged to approach it differently than last time. You can shift your focus—try new colour interpretations, adjust lighting mood, or explore a more expressive handling of brushwork. The goal is not to “redo” your previous painting, but to see how your understanding of the image (and your own skills) has evolved.

Aisling will walk you through the painting step-by-step over zoom. For your convenience, you will receive a Zoom link about 30 minutes before every class in a session. Our virtual classes are hosted using a professional film set up for a high definition virtual class. The class takes place between 7:00pm-9:30pm Eastern Time (Toronto). The first 10 minutes are for questions about set up and some quick introductions to the process. Be ready with your brush in hand at 7:10 :)

You will receive a zoom link. Please email me if you have any issues:

Vincent van Gogh

Wheat Fields after the Rain (The Plain of Auvers), 1890

In this class, we will paint Vincent van Gogh's Wheat Fields after the Rain (The Plain of Auvers) (1890), one of the artist's final and most celebrated landscapes. The painting offers a wonderful opportunity to explore colour, brushwork, and atmospheric perspective while studying Van Gogh's unique ability to transform an ordinary rural scene into something vibrant and expressive. Particular attention will be given to the interplay of warm and cool colours, the rhythmic patterns of the landscape, and the way light animates the fields after a rainstorm.

All ages and levels are welcome!

An Artist's Still Life

In this class, we will paint a traditional atelier-style still life featuring the familiar tools of the artist's studio. Emphasis will be placed on careful observation, thoughtful composition, accurate drawing, and the study of light as it describes form and texture. Through this exercise, students will strengthen their understanding of the classical principles that transform ordinary objects into a compelling work of art.

A Note to Students: While this arrangement serves as our starting point, you are welcome to personalize your still life by adjusting colours or incorporating a few meaningful objects from your own studio. A favourite brush, sketchbook, palette knife, or other cherished tool can add a subtle sense of individuality while remaining true to the spirit of the exercise.
